  • Tomorrow's lasting joy

    By Naomi Rawlings
    4 stars

A wholesome romance set in Texas and part of a series, so the characters are familiar and the only thing to decide is how these two will eventually get together and then be happy ever after. Good holiday fun.

  • Echoes of Twilight

    By Naomi Rawlings
    4 stars

Did I know who would end up together at the end? Yes, but the way there was interesting and the location of the romance (in the wilds of Alaska) was interesting - also nice to read of the wholesome family that struggle with another famiy who has power and position. An enjoyable read.

  • We Who Wrestle with God

    By Jordan B Peterson
    4 stars

I usually really enjoy Jordan and have read all his books. I found this one a little difficult as he seems to move all over the place - but still a worthwhile read.

  • The Convenient Marriage

    By Georgette Heyer
    3 stars

I found this difficult to read because of the way the language was used. Great adjectives but took a while to get my head around it. A bit of intrigue and not predictable at all, but in the end I enjoyed it more than I thought despite struggling to stay focussed on the story

  • The misplaced Miss Eloise

    By Maggie Dallen
    4 stars

Another light pleasant one night read about a grumpy man and debutante unwillingly coming together, having feelings and doing the inevitable - getting hitched.

  • The misunderstanding of Miss Louisa

    By Maggie Dallen
    4 stars

Another light romance novel. This one with a bumbling, accident prone young miss who's been shipped off to a finishing school to mitigate against embarrasing the family. He accidents seem to involve one particular Lord who after only a short time is besotted and proposes. A nice light one night read.

  • Compelling Reason

    By C S Lewis
    0 stars

You can only find out the rights and wrongs by Reasoning - never by being rude about your opponent's psychology.' For C. S. Lewis, reason and logic are the sensible way to approach faith and ethics. Much of the 20th century's ills are caused by ill-founded beliefs and opinions. Lewis's original approach remains as vital today as ever. He is able to take the most convoluted subject, turn it side on and shed bright illumination on it, but to be honest I found it difficult to digest since the language was a little dry.

  • Tomorrows first light

    By Naomi Rawlings
    4 stars

Growing up an orphan, Sam Owens never had a place to call home or a family to love. So if his wife-to-be needs to bring three of her siblings with her, he has no complaints about having a ready-made family. But his mail-order-bride doesn’t arrive with three. She arrives with eight. Sam can’t make himself turn away children in need. But as a beginning rancher, he doesn’t have the resources to care for so many people. This christian historical romance was a pleasure to read and brings hope that good men do exist.

  • Tomorrows Shining Dream

    By Naomi Rawlings
    4 stars

She needs to learn how to flirt. He needs to forget she exists. Then she asks him for help finding a husband… its obvious what's going to happen right? Charlotte Westin has always been more comfortable in a saddle than a ballroom. That wouldn’t be a problem, except her father owns the largest ranch in Texas—and he insists she marry a wealthy city-slicker worthy of a cattle baron’s daughter. There might be someone out there who’d love her for who she is instead of her money, but she’s been fooled by a sweet talker before, and her family is still suffering because of it. With an old friend-turned-enemy returning to town and cattle rustlers running roughshod over the county, Sheriff Daniel Harding knows the last thing he should be thinking about is a woman… especially the one woman he’ll never be able to marry. Then Charlotte Westin asks for his help, and Daniel can’t refuse. Until he finds out exactly what she wants… When Charlotte comes to Daniel with a plan to find herself a husband, Daniel is forced to face his feelings for her—as well as some past mistakes of his own. But as the rustlers grow more dangerous, Charlotte’s father takes drastic steps to engage her to a man she doesn’t love. And Charlotte and Daniel soon find themselves caught between the burdens from their pasts and others’ expectations. Will they let their past choices ruin their dreams? Or will Charlotte and Daniel embrace God’s forgiveness and forge a happy future for themselves? From jagged mountains and green river valleys, to cattle ranches and vivid sunsets, Tomorrow’s Shining Dream offers a meaningful story about simpler times, sincere faith, and unfailing love.Easy romance read set on a texas ranch close to the mexican border. The men are God-fearing kind and in need of a wife. Enjoyed this

  • Tomorrow's constant hope

    By Naomi Rawlings
    4 stars

This romance is set in the desert on the American border close to Mexico. It was interested reading a romance in this context as cowboy lifestyle hasn't been my thing. I liked how Naomi makes the hero a upstanding christian man trying to do what's right but without preaching - just how he's living with the bible as his guideline for behaviour. The hero and heroine were believable and the story enjoyable.

  • The misadventures of Miss Adelaide

    By Maggie Dallen
    4 stars

This is a great short read - light and predictable in the format of the usual clean romance. The 'in-trouble girl gets the troubled earl' kind of story. Well written and easy to read. Will look for more of her stories.

  • 1000 steps

    By W. Newton Reid
    5 stars

Written in the style of a verse novel so it's easy to read in terms of accessible language. The themes cover family relationships, abuse, loss and rejecting which could be confronting but the end result is a message of hope, faith and resilience that is positive and well written. I would recommend it for teenagers who don't like reading, anyone who's going through a hard time and many others including school counsellors, pastors, parents, teenagers.
