Patient and colleague interactions are a critical for teaching empathy, building emotional intelligence and enhancing personal growth. It can only be learned by having those rich and often painful experiences and reflecting on them afterwards. I'm a huge fan of life stories and each patient story is limited to two pages, therefore it's an effective bedtime read!
I got FOMO after the WGC book club were discussing this one. Easily doable in a day! I've never returned a library book within 48 hours before. Can't wait to devour the other books in the series.
An honest warts 'n' all account of the trials, tribulations and rewards of growing your own kai
Interesting autobiography. A disillusioned Cardiologist moves from the US to NZ and notes the enormous differences between both countries in their approach to patient care. As part of a research team on the North Island, he measured coronary calcium levels using CT scans as an early indicator of atherosclerotic plaque. This helped reduce the need for invasive, expensive and sometimes ineffective treatments and ultimately improved patient outcomes. Clever stuff!
Recommended by the members of the WGC book club. Worth waiting for them to return their copies so I could take one for the holidays! It grabbed me about half way through and I struggled to put it down thereafter.
Incredible book! Accessible information on anatomy and physiology with an abundance of interesting facts.
